So I created this blog a long long time ago with the intention of filling it, but somehow I never wrote much. (I blame grad school). I have since finished my masters degree, so maybe I will give this a shot again.
Today was a great day. I had lunch with a friend I haven't seen in years. I have known her since pretty much kindergarten, so having lunch with her was a weird walk down memory lane. I think the memory that strikes me the most was sitting on her fence with another friend of ours and watching the cars drive by. One day we chucked lemons at the cars and had a fed ex driver come yell at us. Stupid kids are stupid.I also remember camping with her family and her dad telling us a scary story which I realize now he got from Edgar Allen Poe. It was really nice to see her.
Then the Fiance came over. We ate rice bowls and saw the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I recommend this movie (and really the entire series) to everyone. When The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe came out I went to the theater with approximately 20 friends to see it. When we got there, it seemed like everyone from our school was there (and mind you, this was not high school--everyone from my university was there). And just in case you were curious, I did not go to a religious university. I ran into people I knew from physics class, from the fellowship on campus, and even from one of the frat houses. Everybody seemed to be at this movie and seemed to love it.One of the last things I did before moving away from home was to go see Prince Caspian with some of my close friends from high school. And again it was fantastic. The latest movie is also great, in spite of Disney not being involved. In all three cases, the films made some major plot adjustments from the books. But in every case these changes made the movies flow better, developed the characters, or emphasized some important theme. Whoever is writing these screenplays is doing a stand up job. Additionally, the child actors in this series are just very natural. Some of the child actors in the Harry Potter movies are a little stiff, but these kids are either fantastic actors or extremely well cast. I give this movie 5 stars.
By the way, I love having a fiance. He is way cool and he is marrying me in less than two months. Life is completely crazy sometimes.
